Psychology faculty, students receive awards
Several Psychology students and faculty received awards this spring, and we couldn’t be prouder!
Professor Zeman was one of a select group of faculty who received a Plumeri Award this year. The award, established with a generous gift from Joseph J. Plumeri II ’66, D.P.S. ’11, recognizes faculty members for exemplary achievements in teaching, research and service.
Two masters students, Nicholas Alt and David Newman, were selected by The National Science Foundation East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute (NSF-EAPSI) to conduct research this summer in Japan and Korea. David Newman will spend 10 weeks at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan to study cross-cultural differences in decision making and well-being. Nicholas Alt will study at Chungbuk National University in Korea with Professor Sanghee Park.
Masters student Nicholas Alt was awarded with the S. Laurie Sanderson Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mentoring and the Graduate Research Symposium Award for his thesis entitled Empowered to Confront: Power and Confronting Sexism. Nicholas will attend UCLA in the fall to begin his doctorate studies in Social Psychology.
